How will my entries be judged?

Stage 1

Once the entry deadline has passed, the Governance Intelligence editorial team reviews all submissions and produces the short lists.

Stage 2

The short-listed entries are shared with an independent judging panel made up of industry experts.

The judges review each short-listed entry and select their top two picks per category.

Stage 3

The judges come together to discuss, debate and select the final list of winners who will go on to win an award.

Important things to note:

The judges’ votes are not made public, but their comments may be published in articles or reports after the event.

Judges are not required to make comments against every submission.

Why is it important to be recognized as a shortlisted company in this category?

It is an important recognition to be shortlisted as it shows the company has a robust program and it is expected that they will continue to make thoughtful enhancements to this program in the ever-changing environment. They will be one to watch in the future.

What are the top three things that you look for in an entry?

Any evidence of the team taking on a particularly onerous subject matter item (failed vote, contested situation, etc.)
If a new team, how cohesive is their engagement and reporting strategy.
Generally, reviewing engagement strategy year-round, disclosure in proxy as well as other reports (ESG, Sustainability, etc.)

What are the top three things that you look for in an entry?

While there are many things I look for, perhaps the top three are passion, originality and clarity of communication. Entries that are mundane or unenthusiastic are far less appealing. As corporate governance professionals we fulfill an important role not only in our companies, but in our free markets and economy. Whether behind the curtain out out front, people rely on what we do. There ought to be a passion about what we, this group does. Clarity is key - whether in a proxy or a summary submission.

Why is it important to be recognized as a shortlisted company in this category?

Considering how many corporations, entities there are along with professionals guiding them through the corporate governance rapids and pitfalls, for a select few to be recognized as contenders is a tremendous accolade in and of itself. Each shortlisted company and recognized individual ought to rightfully stand with pride at the recognition by their peers.
