Globally, 63 percent of IROs agree that social media puts increasing pressure on companies and makes it more difficult to manage
a crisis, with just 12 percent disagreeing. While a quarter of IR professionals neither agree nor disagree with this statement, just under a quarter strongly agree. The view that social media makes it harder to manage a crisis is broadly held by IROs across all regions and companies of any size. Fewer Asian IROs agree and more are neutral on the issue than are IROs in other regions. While slightly fewer mega-cap IROs agree in general, more of them strongly agree with the statement. A greater percentage of small-cap IROs disagree than do IROs at any other cap size.
