IR teams have experienced a notable increase over the past five years in the level of investor interest in executive pay. When asked about the frequency of investors asking questions on executive compensation, 47 percent have witnessed an increase over the past five years while just under half say the frequency has stayed the same as five years ago.
European IR teams are the most likely to have seen an increase in investor engagement on this issue, with almost six in 10 IROs saying they have received more queries from investors in the past five years. This compares with four in 10 North American IROs and 36 percent in Asia.
As company size increases, so does investor interest in executive pay. Just under a third of small-cap IROs have seen the frequency of investor questions rise over the past five years. This number increases with cap size to 62 percent of mega-cap IROs.
