The majority of those working in IR hold some professional qualification, with 38 percent having undergone IR association training. Professional study is most common in Asia, where just under a quarter of IR professionals hold a sustainability diploma.
Professional qualifications and training are most common among large-cap IR teams, while those working at mega-cap companies are the least likely to have undergone the experience. Nearly half of all IR heads have no formal professional qualifications, compared with 28 percent of IROs. Those holding sustainability diplomas are likely to be more recent recruits to IR than more experienced IR professionals.
